Personal Profile:
Hi my name is Alfred Stieglitz and I am a photographer. I was born January 1, 1864 in Hoboken New Jersey. I am the oldest of six children by two German-Jewish immigrants. I moved back to Germany to study becoming a mechanical engineer but realize it wasn't a passion I was interested in. In 1882 I purchased my very first camera and the love of photographing was born. I did well for a self taught artist and was even able to have a few photos in an amateur magazine. 1890 I moved back home after the death of my sister Flora. It was coming back to New York that I became the voice of the Photo-Secessionist movement. Eventually my career came to an end and I died July 13, 1946.
