Romare Bearden American collage artist
Greetings, my name is Romare Bearden. I was born on September 2, 1911 in Charlotte, North Carolina. I died in March 12, 1988 in New York. My nationality is American.
My artwork consisted of cartoons, oils, and collages. It also consisted of historical literary, and musical pieces. I also loved to base my artwork off of music and things that mattered to me, like equal right for all. Around 1960 I started adding other materials to my artwork.

- A cool fact about me is that I was also a writer who depicted my writings on African-American life. I developed different techniques to create different moods in my artwork. Another fact about me is I went to college at Lincoln University, but I then transferred to Boston University and then finished at New York University.

Harlem Renaissance
I was also a part of the Harlem Renaissance. I was only a kid when the Renaissance was going on. My mother was a newspaper editor, and our house became a meeting place. I would always listen in on the meeting and that is where I became inspired to become an artist. The Harlem Renaissance was more than just art, it included music and theater of the black culture from people living in and around Harlem.
