Profile:
Hello! My name is Cindy, Cindy Sherman to be exact. I was born on January 19, 1954 in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, a wonderful place really if you can ignore all the pollution. I am a photographer who wasn't always focusing on photography, you see I originally wanted to paint. I even studied painting at Buffalo State College! I quickly became frustrated with it, there are too many limitations and I couldn't express myself in the way I wanted, so I turned to photography where I felt more free.
My type of photography is different from most, I don't just snap photos of nature or animals, I mostly take self portraits. I dress myself up in what ever character I'm feeling like, whether it be normal or suggestive, and photograph myself with a FILM camera. I prefer film over digital, it gives a more realistic depth than digital cameras do.

About my Art: As I said before, I have taken most of my photography using a film camera. I have only recently switched over to using a digital camera, I was never too fond of how they removed the depth from my photographs. Most of my photography features myself as the main subject, I enjoy dressing up and becoming different characters for my photos. I'm considered to be a part of the pictures generation. |

Events that were Happening in my Lifetime:
In my lifetime many things have changed in the world. Fashion and feminism all became large topics that sprung up while I was developing my career. When feminism started up, I began to take photographs that objectified women. Later in my life this became a controversy since I don't claim that things going on in the world had anything to do with my photography.
