Personal Profile:
Bonjour Mon Amie! My name is Pierre Auguste Rénoir. My birth took place on February 25, 1841 in Haute-Vienna, France. I lived a long life and died at the age of 78 on December 3, 1919 in France.
I was a painter that celebrated the beauty of feminine sensuality. I have been called the final painter of women - a tradition which runs directly from Rubens to Watteau. My paintings are notable because I use vibrant light and saturated color to bring out the characters.
I am considered an Impressionist because I suggested details of a scene through freely brushed color so my figures and their surroundings fuse.
