Sandy Skogland
Hello, my name is Sandy Skogland and I was born on September 11, 1946 and I am still doing art today. I live in Weymouth, Massachusetts and I am an American photographer and installation artist. An installation artist is someone who takes three-dimensional space and turns it into a designed space.
I became interested in teaching myself photography to document my artistic goals, and experimenting with themes of repetition. I also, was interested in dealing with repetitive, process-oriented art production. Through the techniques of mark-making and photocopying, I had produced a series of food items and still life images. I went to school for studio art and art history at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts and I graduated in 1969. I do a lot of my work with organic materials such as popcorn, gum balls, ground beef, Cheetos, eggs, bacon, jelly beans and more. My most known art installation is titled Radioactive Cats and I completed it in 1980. Another one of my famous art pieces is called Raining Popcorn. Every time I create an installation it takes me 6 months to a year creating and designing it. Hello, my name is Sandy Skogland and I was born on September 11, 1946 and I am still doing art today.
